The tracer emits ultra sonic signals to maintain a set distance or elevation from an object, surface or the ground. Installed on the blades of the 244 and 274 cm graders, the sonic tracer allows them to be used to grade, level, and backfill on a multiple slope terrain when following a string line, kerb stone, the gutter or even a previous pass as a grade control. Grade accuracy is 6.4 mm, and the detection range of the sonic tracer is from 200 to 1300 mm.

The system comprises a sonic tracer, two slope sensors and one rotation sensor, all of which are Trimble components so have proven reliability. The sensors communicate directly with the Bobcat Attachments Control Device (ACD).

The sonic tracer and large graders are compatible with Bobcat S770 and S850 skid-steer loaders, the Bobcat T650, T770 and T870 compact tracked loaders and the Bobcat A770 all-wheel-steer loader. If the user already has a laser system mounted on the grader, they can also mount the sonic tracer on the blade, allowing them to switch between using the grader with the sonic tracer or the laser system.

Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment is launching the DL450-3 model, the first in the company’s new generation large wheel loaders. The latest model is powered by a Scania SCR diesel engine meeting the Stage IIIB EU emissions regulations.
It also features new ZF transmissions together with several other features designed to minimise fuel consumption and improve performance, ease of handling, serviceability, durability and significantly enhanced operator comfort.
With a bucket capacity of 4.5 m³, the new wheel loader is intended to meet a wide range of material-handling needs from loading and transporting granular material (such as sand and gravel) to industrial, mining and quarrying applications.
The DL450-3 model is powered by the 13-litre Scania DC13 SCR 6-cylinder diesel engine delivering ‘best in class’ power and engine torque, with a maximum power output of 264 kW at 1800 rpm.

Lower Fuel Consumption

Many of the features of the new generation DL450-3 wheel loader have been developed to optimize fuel efficiency. SCR technology reduces fuel consumption by about 10% compared to similar size machines with EGR technology.A concern for many with the new engines across all manufacturers was a lowering of potential resale value, due to the engine not being suitable as used-equipment in former markets. Doosan have overcome this by making it possible to reset the engine parameters to Stage II engines, thereby making it suitable for use in emerging markets, without offering a different engine option.

The operator can set a password for machine start. If Auto Idle is activated, engine speed goes down about 200 rpm after 10 seconds if there is no machine movement. Auto Idle is ideal for applications with long waiting times, such as truck loading. Thanks to Auto Idle, fuel consumption is reduced by up to 8%.

The first of a new generation

The full range of new large wheel loaders will be launched at Intermat – the new generation machines will gradually be introduced to replace the existing range of 5 models. Contractors World also understands that there will be announcements on the variations of the models available for Africa and the Middle East. All new generation Doosan large wheel loaders are equipped with load-sensing controlled, variable hydraulic piston pumps, improving performance and reducing fuel consumption. With load sensing, the hydraulic pumps receive a signal from the MCV informing how much oil is needed.

This helps to save on engine performance.With the clutch cut-off system engaged, the driver is able to disconnect the transmission from the engine by operating the brake pedal, to have 100% engine performance for the hydraulic system. As a result, movements are faster, breakout force is maximized and fuel consumption is reduced.All are equipped with a torque-converter-cut-off (TCCO) system which, when activated, is switched on automatically. This provides a direct mechanical connection between the engine and transmission without loss of power and torque by the torque converter.

New ZF 5-gear transmission

The new ZF 5-gear transmission improves the transfer of power from the engine to the wheels and contributes significantly to the overall reduction in fuel consumption. The change from four to five gears provides better response and acceleration, especially on slopes. Engine speed variation is also less due to smaller gear steps, and lower engine speed throughout the whole drive range reduces fuel consumption. Another benefit of this is a lowering of noise levels while driving performance and productivity are increased.

As an option, customers can choose ZF axles with a hydraulic differential lock. This function is engaged via the operator pedal or in automatic mode, depending on the torque resistance in 1st and 2nd gear. The advantage of the hydraulic lock system is that it has less rolling resistance compared to the limited slip system.

The radiator fan is hydraulically driven and controlled by an ECU. Changing the fan direction for cleaning the radiator can be done manually from the cab, without having to switch off the engine. Fan reverse intervals (30 minutes to 2 hours) can be set via the menu.

Operator comfort a priority Key to productivity in any large wheel loader is the operator. Look after the operator and the work gets done. Doosan recognise this importance. A new cab design features improvements both outside – better visibility due to a wider front glass section and an extended wiper blade area; better protection due to larger mud guards, improved hand rail and step designs and a new roof cover – as well as inside – such as the new instrument panel with integrated vehicle control unit (VCU).

The control panel has been redesigned to allow the operator to choose the information they want on the display. Using the Main Menu, the operator has access to several functions and machine information. Pressure, temperature and engine speed can be monitored in real time. Detailed operating information is available via the Special Menu.

All new Doosan wheel loaders will have Grammer seats, which are vertically as well as horizontally air suspended. This design, which cushions movements to the front and the rear, is recommended by orthopaedic consultants and is well accepted by operators.

Serviceability

All Doosan new generation large wheel loaders have as standard the SKF Vogel Auto Lubrication system to increase operational hours and extend the lifetime of the machine.

The lift arm has been strengthened with 10% thicker metal in the arm and the tilt lever.

A larger opening angle for the side door improves serviceability. A 90° swing-out fan with swing-out side doors provides easy access to the rear for cleaning the new one block radiator.

This updated machine will provide the basis for replacing Solmec’s 300 series units and the new look superstructure styling will be adopted by other series units in the future.

The EXP5030 displayed at Samoter featured an optional 3.0m wide Heavy Duty wheeled undercarriage that is 0.5m wider than the standard chassis like that used on Solmec’s current 300 series handlers. The prototype machine has a C148kW (203hp) Cummins TCD2013 L6 2V Stage III engine and a load sensing hydraulic system.

The hydrostatic transmission of the EXP5030 provides all wheel drive and two travel speed ranges – 0 to 6 km/h and 0 to 18 km/h. The Heavy Duty chassis has 12.00×20 tyres and there is a Wide Wall option.

The elevating cab, with its anti-vibration mounts, is hydraulically raised to provide a maximum operator’s eye level of 5.2m above the ground. A fully adjustable suspension seat is provided complete with integrated joystick controls. The operating envelope of the machine provides a maximum height of 12.0m under the tines of the grab and a maximum horizontal reach of 13.5m.

The automatic two-speed variation system is exclusive and patented by Montabert. It allows the hammer to automatically select the operating mode depending on the hardness of the material it encounters, resulting in unmatched productivity. The V3500 works with a maximum input power of 93 kW. A hydraulic flow of 320 l/min provides a frequency of 850 blows per minute at an operating pressure of 175 bars. The V3500 offers true overflow protection as a standard. The robust, heavy duty housing and large retainer pins allow the V3500 to work with large tools of 175 mm diameter. The standard version of the V3500 breaker is silenced, and it can be equipped
with a pressurisation circuit for underwater work.

The Montabert V3500 will be officially presented at Intermat 2012 and offered worldwide through the Montabert network made of more than 150 distributors.
